— Donevia, a Des Moines fintech building for credit union lending teams, today opened its credit union pilot program. One spot is already filled, one week after Donevia launched its production platform, and the remaining spots are limited.

The news caps a fast start for the company. Donevia made its public debut with a live demo at FinovateFall in New York on Sept. 10, was named one of five finalists in Reseda Group's Startup Pitch Competition in Detroit on Sept. 25, and won Best FinTech at Iowa Startup Week's Best of the Midwest competition on Oct. 1, where it was one of six finalists chosen from more than 200 applicants.

Donevia was built around a problem every credit union lender knows. Loans rarely stall on a credit decision. They stall waiting on a paystub, a callback or a follow-up nobody had time to send. Donevia automates that busywork and follow-up, with a loan officer approving every step, so loans keep moving while lenders stay with their members.

When I looked at the technology around credit unions, I realized it's not that they don't care about their members, or that loan officers are bad at their jobs. The technology that surrounds them is the bottleneck. Our goal is simple: automate the things that don't need a person, so loan officers can get back to their members.

He left in April 2026 to build Donevia after watching member documents get buried in his own inbox while he was helping members in person. Read his story.
